Iran President Raeisi: Enemy not to realize its dreams in Iran

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi says the enemy is seeking to realize its fanciful dreams by instigating riots in universities and academic institutions, but their plots will fall flat with the vigilance of students and academic lecturers.

Raeisi made the remark at Tehran’s Alzahra University on Saturday in a celebration to commemorate the beginning of the academic year.

Iran witnessed days of riots over the death of 22-year-old Iranian woman, named Mahsa Amini, who collapsed in a police station in the capital and lost her life despite intensive medical care and resuscitation efforts.

“The enemy thought that it could pursue its desires in universities, unaware that our students and professors are vigilant and will not allow the false dreams to come true,” President Raeisi said.

Iranians, he added, “will certainly defeat the enemy in the field of science and knowledge as well as in other fields”.

What started as peaceful protests took a violent turn after unruly protesters fatally attacked policemen and indulged in vandalism against public property in several cities.

On Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian lashed out at Denmark for failing to ensure the security of the Islamic Republic’s embassy and ambassador in Copenhagen after an armed assailant broke into the diplomatic site.

In a phone call with Iranian Ambassador to Copenhagen Afsaneh Nadipour, Amir-Abdollahian also criticized the Danish police for their belated response to the intrusion.

The director general of West Europe at the Iranian Foreign Ministry also summoned Denmark’s ambassador to Tehran to officially protest over the lack of security for Iran’s embassy and its diplomats.

Last week, Iran’s Foreign Ministry summoned Sweden’s chargé d’affaires to protest an attack on the Iranian embassy in Stockholm.
