Widespread protests have erupted throughout Syria in response to the desecration of an Alawite shrine in Aleppo by militant forces. Armed factions affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) reportedly opened fire on demonstrators, escalating tensions in the region.
On Wednesday, massive crowds numbering in the tens of thousands gathered in the cities of Latakia, Tartus, Homs, Hama, and Qardaha, leading to violent clashes.
