Humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine

Humanitarian crisis unfolding in UkraineUkraine is getting closer to a humanitarian crisis as the number of displaced people is increasing in the east of the country.

According to Press TV, most of the people who have fled from violence in the eastern parts of the country are currently settled in confiscated properties of former Ukrainian officials in Kiev, while they need more stable solutions.
Providing shelter for refugees is another issue that the interim government has now to deal with in addition to the housing problems that Kiev has been facing in recent years.
Another problem is that there are no legislative grounds to deal with issues arising from the flow of refugees to the capital.
Oldrich Andrysek from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) told Press TV “There are a number of legislative documentation issues that also typically in a displacement situation like what we see in Ukraine have to be solved and most of them are done by the government.”
The UN has warned that over 10,000 people have so far fled their homes in the eastern areas, and as more citizens opt to do the same, a major refugee crisis is likely to unfold.
