Hundreds of AWOLs in Eastern Syria Join Army

A large group of AWOLs from Eastern Syria surrendered and joined different ranks of the Syrian Army.

A field commander of the Syrian army said on Saturday that 600 deserters from al-Jazeera region in Eastern Syria joined the army in Deir Ezzur province.

He also added that in line with implementation of the peace plan in Syria, tens of ex-militants received amnesty from the government in Deir Ezzur on Saturday.

Earlier this month, thousands of ex-militants that had laid down their arms and called for government’s amnesty were pardoned by authorities in different provinces of the country.

The Arabic-language website of RT quoted the head of Syria’s peace committee Yana Khadour as saying that nearly 40,000 ex-militants, who had laid down arms and surrendered to the army forces, had received amnesty.

It added that over 6,000 women who had earlier been stationed in regions controlled by the terrorists had also been pardoned.

According to the report, nearly 600 people outside Syria have also demanded the government’s amnesty.
