Iraqi forces continue advance towards ISIL stronghold: video

Fighters of the paramilitary ‘Hashd al-Shaabi’, also known as the Popular Mobilisation Units (PMU), continued their operations to expel self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) miltants from the town al-Qairawan 100 kilometres (62 miles) from Mosul, Wednesday.

The campaign in al-Qairawan is part of a larger operation to seize control of various towns and villages surrounding the embattled city of Mosul from IS fighters.
