Idlib: Al-Nusra’s Arms Depots Plundered by Unknown Assailants

Unknown gunmen raided several arms depots of the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Southern Idlib, pushing the militant-held region into severe tensions, dissident-affiliated websites reported on Saturday.

The websites said that unknown militants stormed Al-Nusra’s arms depots in the villages of al-Maqarah, al-Mouzeh and Ahsam in Jabal al-Zaviyeh region in Southern Idlib, adding that a large volume of munitions, missile and cannons have disappeared from the depots after the raid.

The websites went on to say that the Al-Nusra has started wide arrests in the region and accused Ahrar al-Sham of the raid.

The websites said that the Al-Nusra had recently arrested a number of Ahrar fighters.

Other sources said that a large number of defected members of Al-Nusra had also embarked on stealing military and other equipment from the Al-Nusra depots before, adding that Jund al-Malahem that has cut ties with Al-Nusra has put it fighters on alert in the village of Kansafrah in the region.

Militant-affiliated sources conformed last week that the ISIL pushed Al-Nusra back from the villages of Rasm al-Hammam, Hawayes Ibn Hadib, Khirbet Rasm al-Tineh and Hawayes Fort in Northeastern Hama near the border with Idlib.

Also, the ISIL captured the villages of Hawayes Um al-Jaran and Jabal Hawayes, deploying near Al-Nusra positions in Idlib province.
