Zionists seek to subjugate Palestinians: Analyst

A political analyst says the subjugation of Palestinians has been high on the agenda of the Zionist movement from its inception, Press TV reports.

“From their inception they denied the existence of the Palestinian people who they were determined to dispossess, to drive off their land by violence, and to subjugate those who in any way fell within their control. That has been the guiding light of the Zionist colonial settler movement with respect to Palestine from its inception,” Ralph Schoenman, a US-based political commentator, said in a Sunday interview with Press TV.

Referring to the so-called peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, Schoenman underlined that “the terms of a peace settlement are subjugation to Israeli hegemony and control.”

“…and all of this discussion on the part of the United States for a framework for peace discussions, is no more than seeking to demobilize the population in the region in their resistance to imperialism and Zionism, which is the touchstone of self-determination for all peoples of the region, not only the Palestinian people themselves,” he added.

The analyst further described Israel’s illegal settlement construction on the Palestinian land as an “imperial, colonial operation,” which is designed to displace the Palestinians and “to demonize any who resist the relentless Zionist design to liquidate the Palestinian people’s national existence, and to destroy their movement for self-determination.”

The US-sponsored direct talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority approach a deadline next month. This is while negotiators representing the Palestinian Authority and Israel began the latest round of talks in July 2013.

Since the resumption of the direct talks, Palestinians have objected to a number of issues, including the settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The last round of the talks broke down in 2010, when Tel Aviv refused to halt its settlement construction in the occupied Palestinian territories.
