A number of other officials, including Culture Ministry’s Quran and Etrat Deputy Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Reza Heshmati and Head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Saeed Ohadi as well as senior Quranic and religious figures were also present at the event.

Following recitation of verses from the Quran by Iranian Qari Mohammad Hossein Saeedian, Hojat-ol-Islam Heshmati, who also serves as the director of the expo, noted that the motto of this year’s exhibition is “Toward Understanding the Quran”.

He said the motto has been selected given the emphasis put by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, grand sources of emulation, and Muslim thinkers on contemplating the Holy Quran.

Heshmati added that Quranic activities, arts and achievements have been showcased at the exhibition in more than 600 pavilions covering 50,000 square meters.

He also said that a number of organizations and institutions have cooperated with the Quran and Etrat Deputy of the Culture Ministry in mounting the exhibition.

Ali Jannati in his address highlighted the sublime status of the Holy Quran as the book of guidance for humanity and said the biggest vacuum in the Muslim community is neglecting the Quran and its teachings in life.

During the ceremony, an exquisite copy of the Holy Quran and a 12-volume book on Nahj al-Balagha were also unveiled.
The expo is annually held in the Iranian capital during Ramadan.

It has numerous sections each one dedicated to a certain activity related to the Quran.
This year’s event, underway at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall), will host visitors every day from 6 P.M. to 11 P.M. until June 30.
