Int’l Quds Day officially approved by 57-nation OIC

Ministers of Information from member States of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) decided in Libreville, the capital of Gabon, on Friday to recognize the last Friday of the holy fasting month of Ramadan as the World Quds Day officially.

The decision, first suggested by the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasizes official plans in support of the oppressed people in Palestine and the strong condemnation of the crimes committed by the Zionist regime.

As per the approval by the OIC member states’ information minister, public media including radio and TVs, as well as news agencies in the Islamic countries should prepare and organize special features and programmes in this regard.

Iran was accepted as a host for the 10th of such meetings at the suggestion of the Islamic Republic.

Establishment of Islamic radio and TVs, correspondents’ club, and offices in some Islamic countries to coordinate counter-measures against the Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hatred were among other cases of approval in the meeting.

Meeting in Gabon, representatives from the 57-member organization attended a two-day conference titled “Session of Information Technologies in the Service of Peace and Development.”

Established in September 1969, the OIC aims at promoting solidarity among Muslim countries.
