Iran accused the resurgence of terrorism in Syria of being an ‘American-Zionist plot

Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has attributed the resurgence of Takfiri terrorism in northern Syria to a project orchestrated by the United States and Israel. He commented that this development came in the wake of the Israeli regime's setbacks against resistance forces in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.

During a phone call with his Syrian counterpart Bassam al-Sabbagh on Friday, the senior diplomat delivered these statements.

Araghchi characterized the recent developments as a strategic maneuver orchestrated by the United States and Israel. According to him, this initiative emerged following the Israeli regime’s setbacks against resistance factions in Lebanon and across Palestinian territories.

In a Thursday phone conversation with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, the comments mirrored earlier sentiments expressed by the official. During the call, he described the situation as a US-Israeli plot designed to destabilize the West Asian region following the Zionist regime’s unsuccessful attempts to counter Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement.

Araghchi emphasized that the Arab nation has successfully managed to combat the threat of terrorism.

Araghchi emphasized the Islamic Republic’s unwavering support for the Syrian government, its people, and its military in their efforts to combat terrorism and ensure regional security and stability.

The remarks highlighted Tehran’s position as the pioneering nation to offer support to the Arab state in 2014, amidst a wave of foreign-backed terrorism and insurgency that engulfed significant parts of the country.

Damascus, with the strategic assistance of its allies, successfully reversed previous setbacks by 2017, reclaiming lost territories and defeating Daesh, recognized as one of the most brutal terrorist groups.

Sabbagh provided a detailed account of the conditions in northern Syria in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks.

He asserted that the Syrian government and its citizens are resolutely confronting terrorist aggression with full force and remain steadfast in thwarting the malicious objectives of terrorists and their backers.

Members of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a Takfiri-affiliated terrorist group, reportedly seized control of several government-held areas in northern Syria, resulting in the deaths of numerous Syrian soldiers.

Subsequently, Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television network reported that the Syrian army successfully disrupted significant terrorist activities in Aleppo Province through a proactive military strike.

A network has reported the successful interception of four significant terrorist plots, planned to originate from the town of Anadan, located approximately 12 kilometers (7 miles) northwest of Aleppo, before they could be initiated.

The report indicates that the military has escalated missile strikes targeting terrorist strongholds extending from villages in western Aleppo to Mount Zawiya, located south of Idlib city, situated in a neighboring province.

According to reports, the Syrian army successfully stopped the progression of militants affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in the southeastern region of Idlib. In response, they initiated a counteroffensive aimed at reclaiming lost territory.
