Iranian Envoy: Int’l Quds Day Beginning of Nations’ Vigilance in Fighting US, Israel

Iranian Envoy

Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Qazanfar Roknabadi appreciated the world people for participating in the International Quds Day rallies on Friday, and said the nomination of Quds Day was the start of the nations’ vigilance in fighting the US and Israel.
“By naming the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the International Quds Day, the Late Imam Khomeini made this day the beginning of the nations’ awakening and vigilance in fighting the cancerous tumor in the region, i.e. the Zionist regime, and the great Satan, i.e. the US,” Roknabadi said in a ceremony in Beirut on Saturday.

He reiterated Iran’s support for the Palestinian nation, and said the country believes that liberation of the Palestinian territories needs unity and solidarity among the Palestinians, all resistance groups and the entire Islamic Ummah.

The International Quds Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of the holy Quds to Muslims.

International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel’s occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas.

Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran.
