Iranian, Iraqi Universities to Conduct Joint Academic Projects

Iran’s Khoramshahr Marine Science and Technology University and Iraq’s Basra University of Marine Sciences announced plans to increase mutual cooperation in different academic and research fields.

Speaking at a joint meeting between the two universities’ officials in Iran’s Southwestern port city of Khoramshahr, Chancellor of Khoramshahr Marine Science and Technology University Alireza Sadrinasab said that his university is prepared to cooperate with the Basra University in joint projects as well as exchange of students.

As regards cooperation agreements between the two sides, Sadrinasab said they agreed to conduct joint research projects.

“Exchange of university students and professors between the two universities is among other items of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between this university and the Basra University of Marine Sciences.”

The development came a day after, Iran and Iraq agreed to boost educational and training cooperation as part of their broader plan for increasing mutual cooperation.

Head of Iran’s Technical and Vocational Training Organization Koroush Parand said on Friday that Iran and Iraq have signed a memorandum of understanding for expanding cooperation in the fields of education and vocational training to promote employment opportunities in their job market.

Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, in 2003.

Both sides are working on a series of plans to take wide strides in expanding their ties.
