Enemies will not survive attack on Iran nuclear facilities: Iran cmdr.

A senior Iranian commander says enemies of the Islamic Republic will not get away with an attack on Iran’s nuclear energy facilities.

“We promise that if our nuclear facilities come under attack, the enemies will not get away with it [unharmed],” Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Command Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said on Friday.

Esmaili added that Iranians will defend their peaceful nuclear facilities with their lives.

Israel has recently stepped up threats of carrying out a unilateral strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities claiming that the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program contains a military component.

Iran says its nuclear activities are entirely civilian, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) it is entitled to use nuclear technology for peaceful objectives.

Iranian officials have also promised a crushing response to any military strike against the country, warning that any such measure could result in a war that would spread beyond the Middle East.

Brigadier General Esmaili said every country has an “inalienable right” to defend itself against aggression.

He added that the Islamic Republic is always ready to counter threats and “the more the enemy threatens us, the more prepared we will become.”

“Our doctrine is defensive, so if any threat is carried out [against Iran] we will defend [the country] immediately and deliver a decisive response.”
