Iran Denies Any Role in Alleged Scheme Targeting Zionist Embassy in UK
Tehran has firmly dismissed reports in Western media alleging the involvement of Iranian nationals in a suspected plot against the Israeli embassy in London.

In a statement posted on his X account on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that Tehran has not received any official notification of accusations through “proper diplomatic channels.”
Iran has expressed its willingness to engage in discussions to clarify the situation and has reiterated its call for UK authorities to ensure due process is afforded to its citizens.
Authorities in the United Kingdom have conducted two separate investigations, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals. Among those detained are seven Iranian nationals, all linked to allegations of posing threats to national security.
The Metropolitan Police in London announced on Sunday that they have apprehended five individuals, with four identified as Iranian nationals, on allegations of preparing a terrorist act. Meanwhile, three others are detained under national security laws that were enacted in 2023 to address threats posed by hostile states.
Authorities apprehended the individuals following a “pre-planned” investigation focused on an alleged scheme to “target specific premises,” according to the Metropolitan Police. The police further stated that the “affected site” has been informed and is receiving support from law enforcement officials.
In a separate investigation conducted by the Metropolitan Police, three Iranian men were detained in London on Saturday.
The Metropolitan Police reported the arrest of three individuals, aged 39, 44, and 55, under section 27 of the National Security Act. The arrests occurred at separate locations in north-west and west London, with the individuals now in custody as searches are ongoing.
In his statement, Araghchi referred to media reports concerning the alleged involvement of Iranian citizens in a purported scheme to target the Israeli embassy in London. He called on the UK to collaborate with Tehran to facilitate an investigation into any credible allegations.
The Iranian foreign minister cautioned that external entities are engaging in extreme tactics, such as false flag operations, to undermine diplomatic efforts and incite tensions.
He stated that the timing and absence of engagement indicate that something may be wrong.
In a statement released on Tuesday via the X social media platform, Iran’s Foreign Minister urged the United Kingdom to uphold the rights of Iranian nationals detained in the country, emphasizing Tehran’s willingness to support investigations related to the incident.
Araghchi expressed concern upon learning reports that Iranian citizens have allegedly been detained by UK security services.
