Iran Deplores Europe’s Support for Extremists in Syria

A1125749A senior Iranian foreign ministry official lashed out at the European states for their support for extremist groups in the crisis-hit Syria.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for International Affairs Mohammad Mehdi Akhondzadeh, who is in the Hague to attend the Third Review Conference of the States Parties of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), explained Iran’s stance on the developments in Syria in an interview with the Dutch NRC daily.

Akhondzade stressed that Iran as a Syrian ally “has done its best to help bring the two sides in Syria to reconciliation”, reminding that Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi held a meeting with head of the Syrian National Coalition Sheikh Ahmad Maaz al-Khatib in Munich in the same regard.

“But unfortunately” the Iranian official said “the flow of arms to opponents of the Syrian government has made this difficult for us”.

He expressed surprised at the moves made by certain countries to worsen the conflict in Syria, and noted, “Unfortunately, Europe, too, supports extremists in Syria.”

As regards the future of Syria, Akhondzadeh said it is up to the Syrian people to decide their country’s fate.

Earlier this month, a number of leaders of the terrorist groups, the so-called military councils and brigades confessed to receiving money and weapons from foreign sides for perpetrating sabotage acts to undermine Syria’s stability.

In their confessions broadcast on the Syrian TV, the terrorist groups’ leaders confessed to looting public and private properties and committing massacres against the innocent Syrians to accuse the Syrian army of having done so.

They divulged the big role of al-Jazeera and al-Arabia Satellite Channels in what is taking place in Syria through fabricating and falsifying the facts with the aim of igniting sedition in Syria.

They also uncovered that a number of Istanbul Council’s members called them to enhance coordination and set up websites on the facebook under various military names.

The leaders of terrorist groups said that Istanbul Council’s members supplied them with money received from the Persian Gulf countries, particularly Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as well as, Turkey to form battalions and brigades to be under the command of the so-called free army.

They pointed out that the armed groups’ members include mercenaries who fight for money, adding that al-Qaeda-linked Jabhat al-Nusra committed criminal and sabotaging acts in the Muslim country.

They stressed that one of the CIA officer called Michael, who is in Jordan, pledged to extend military and logistic aid to them.
