Iran Defuses Enemy Plots During Muharram Mourning Ceremoni

Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said IRGC forces have foiled enemies plans to stir chaos in Iran during the traditional Muharram mourning ceremonies.

Brig. Gen. Pakpour stated that the enemies had plans to conduct terrorist operations which were thwarted by dispatching of five IRGC ranger units to border regions.

The senior commander noted that the IRGC carried out drone and missile attacks aimed at forcing the anti-revolutionary groups to disarm or back to their camps.

He added that the operation was an accurate one which dealt a heavy blow to the militant groups in the Northern Iraqi region, deploying 70 missiles and tens of drones.

Iran has been the target of terrorist attacks in the past few decades and thousands of its citizens have been martyred by the terrorist groups. Iranian officials stress that the country is a victim of terrorism. They say Tehran has lost more people than any other country in the fight against terrorism, critisizing the Western countries for their double-standard policies on terrorism.

In recent years, Iranian security forces have captured hundreds of members of the terror groups planning to carry out terror attacks across the country. The militants were involved in making explosives and hand-made bombs and linked to foreigners and planned to carry out counter-security acts and set up operational groups to direct the riots in Iran.
