The Iranian companies involved in production of medical equipments are exporting their products to tens of foreign countries despite the sanctions and other restrictions imposed by the West on Iran’s economy, a union leader announced on Sunday.

“Right now, local companies are exporting their products to over 70 world countries from Russia to South America,” Chairman of the Board of Directors of Medical Equipment Exporters Union Abdolreza Ya’qoubzadeh said on Sunday.

He stated that the Iranian medical equipment manufacturers are highly capable and are producing high quality products.

He announced that Iran has exported $11mln worth of medical equipments in the last Iranian year (March 20, 2012 – March 21, 2013).

Iran has made huge achievements in various fields of science and technology, from nuclear knowledge to stem cell and Nano technology.

In a recent case, the country gained self-sufficiency in producing disposable medical tools and equipment after inaugurating a disposable syringe production line in the Central city of Ashtiyan in March 2013.

The plant which produces steel tubes (cylinders) and disposable cannula was inaugurated in a ceremony with Former Health Minister Marziyeh Vahid Dastjerdi and Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Nasrin Soltankhah in attendance.

According to the producers, the new progress will save $12mln for the country.
