Iran FM asserts it is crucial for Israel to acknowledge its defeat in Gaza following its appeals for a ceasefire in Lebanon
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has declared that Israel must acknowledge its defeat in Gaza, following its appeal for a ceasefire with the Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah.

In a statement posted on his X account on Wednesday, Araghchi asserted that Hezbollah had once more dispelled the notion of Israel’s invincibility by compelling the regime to agree to a ceasefire.
On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to a deal anticipated to bring an end to the regime’s prolonged and deadly conflict with Lebanon.
The decision followed a session of the leader’s “security cabinet,” convened to deliberate over a proposal presented by the United States and France.
In a recent statement, Iran’s Foreign Minister commented that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has been compelled to seek a ceasefire following substantial losses incurred in southern Lebanon.
Over the past year, Araghchi asserted that the Israeli Prime Minister has drawn tens of billions of dollars from US taxpayers to finance what he described as war crimes carried out in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
He underscored that Israel has been benefiting from comprehensive U.S. military assistance and political backing in relation to its alleged criminal activities.
Iran’s senior diplomat concluded his remarks by asserting that, following the Israeli regime’s inability to overcome Hezbollah, “it is now crucial for Israel to acknowledge defeat in Gaza as well.”
As the conflict with Israel intensifies, figures from October 7, 2023, onwards reveal that a minimum of 44,282 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have lost their lives, with an additional 104,880 individuals sustaining injuries. This surge in casualties ensued after Palestinian resistance movements initiated a retaliatory operation.
In response to the Israeli military campaign initiated in Gaza last October, Hezbollah established a support front for Palestinians in the region. This move came just a day after the commencement of what has been described by some as a genocidal assault by Israel on the blockaded area. Subsequently, Hezbollah carried out several retaliatory strikes on Israeli positions within the occupied territories.
In the wake of a truce announcement, the resistance movement has issued a warning, declaring its readiness to confront any future acts of Israeli aggression against Lebanon. The group emphasized that the recent ceasefire agreement with the Israeli regime was a result of its successful operations, involving thousands of combatants.
