Iran has denounced an Israeli minister’s call for the annexation of the West Bank, labeling it as ‘racist’ and ‘expansionist’

Iran has issued a vehement condemnation of remarks made by an Israeli minister advocating for the annexation of the West Bank, a territory currently under occupation.

On Wednesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei characterized the latest actions of the Israeli regime as yet another demonstration of its “racist, expansionist, and aggressive tendencies.”

In a written statement, Baghaei condemned the remarks made by Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on November 11.

In a recent statement, Smotrich announced that he has initiated preparations for the annexation of the West Bank, expressing hopes that the administration will establish sovereignty over the territory by 2025.

An Iranian spokesperson has accused the regime of persistently infringing upon Palestinian territories as part of a broader strategy aimed at the obliteration of Palestine. According to the spokesperson, this plan has been executed with extreme brutality over the past year.

Baghaei underscored the legal and ethical obligations of all involved governments to avert and penalize acts of genocide, and to address war crimes and crimes against humanity.

He voiced profound disappointment regarding the actions taken by the United States and Germany to obstruct attempts to hold Israeli leaders accountable and pursue legal proceedings against them at the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.

An Iranian official has urged the international community and the United Nations Security Council to take firm measures to halt what they describe as genocide in Palestine and to address the aggressive actions of the regime in Lebanon and the wider West Asia region.

Baghaei stated that any entity that does not adhere to the principles and standards of international law and the United Nations Charter, and whose official and practical policies are aimed at discrediting and weakening the UN and its institutions, should not be considered eligible for membership in the organization.

The spokesperson asserted that attempts characterized as genocidal will not undermine the determination of the Palestinian people, nor their commitment to reclaim their territories.

The ongoing actions and alleged violations by occupying forces are not deterring the determination of the Palestinian population in their pursuit of self-determination and emancipation from what they describe as military occupation and apartheid.
