Carpet industry is one of the most important sections in Iran’s textile industry, which has developed and grown significantly with $350million revenue, only in the previous year.

Machine made carpet industry have flourished to a size of 1000 producers that use the latest available technologies and good quality materials with modern and traditional carpet designs to provide unique products to domestic and international markets.

Total production of this sector currently stands at 100 million square meters of machine made carpets and floor coverings.

Iranian people have always showed great passion toward carpet industry and considered it as a work of art.

Iran exports carpets to at least 70 countries in the world. Experts attribute the increasingly lucrative market for Persian carpets worldwide to its quality, color and design.

Carpet-weaving is one of the most distinguished manifestations of Persian culture and art, which dates back to ancient Persia.

Persian carpets, in particular the hand-woven products, often feature geometric patterns which are a reflection of Islamic influences, although many Persian rugs depict natural scenes of animal and plant wildlife.

There is an estimated population of 1.2 million weavers in Iran, producing hand-woven carpets for domestic markets and international export.

The 2014 international machine made carpet and related industries exhibition kicked off on September 6 and will run until September 9.
