Iran mass-produces defense missiles

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says the Islamic Republic has managed to mass-produce domestically-manufactured Shalamcheh missiles.

Shalamcheh mid-range surface-to-air missiles were delivered to Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base on Sunday after they had been successfully test-fired, .

He added that high speed, great ability to hit air targets, and fighting an electronic war are among the main features of the advanced missiles.

The minister noted that the missiles have been mass-produced in the country thanks to high capabilities of Iran’s defense industry experts.

Iran’s Defense Ministry plans to design and manufacture long-range air-defense systems in the future with the purpose of defending the country’s airspace, Vahidi pointed out.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

In January, Iran’s Defense Ministry delivered new cruise missile systems to the Navy, which are capable of spotting and destroying various targets at sea.

In early May, the deputy commander of Iran’s Air Force, General Mohammad Alavi, said the Islamic Republic has mass-produced and test-fired new cruise missiles, which can be used against naval targets.

Iran has repeatedly assured that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
