61 Palestinians injured in renewed protests in West Bank, Gaza

Nearly 61 Palestinian citizens were injured on Sunday in clashes with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) that continue for the fourth day in a row over the US declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that its crews treated 58 injuries in 10 different areas in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

A local source said that a number of Palestinian citizens were injured with rubber-coated metal bullets while protesting at Huwara checkpoint to the south of Nablus city against the US president Donald Trump’s latest decision. Other injuries were reported in al-Bireh, al-Khalil and Bethlehem.

Local sources told the PIC reporter that dozens of Palestinian youths and students from Palestine Technical University marched at the western entrance to Tulkarem city and clashed with the IOF soldiers who attacked them with rubber bullets and tear gas canisters causing many injuries and suffocation cases.

Other confrontations flared up in al-Sha’rawiya area in Tulkarem where Palestinian youths set tires on fire and threw stones at the IOF soldiers.

About 14 Palestinians, including two children, were injured after being attacked with live bullets and tear gas canisters in the protests launched along the Gaza Strip border fence with the 1948 occupied Palestine.

Violent clashes and mass demonstrations have been launched all over the occupied Palestinian territories in protest at the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and Trump’s decision to move the US embassy there.
