Iran said no to greedy P5+1

Iran said no to the “greedy” demands of the P5+1 and that is why six world powers announced they had not reached their goals in the talks, an Iranian lawmaker says.

“After consultations, Western states decided to pressure Iran,” using three rounds of talks in Geneva as a pretext, Mohammad Karim Abedi told IRNA on Monday.

He said that while “the P5+1 has never been governed by logic,” Iran has never wavered from its path or broken any “sacred or international laws.”

Iran and the P5+1 — Britain, Russia, France, China and the US plus Germany — began two days of multifaceted talks in the Turkish city of Istanbul on January 21.

Tehran had earlier announced that it would meet with the
P5+1 in Istanbul to only discuss issues of common concern, including nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation and cooperation in making peaceful nuclear energy accessible to all nations.

Following the Geneva talks, Iran’s top negotiator Saeed Jalili said the Istanbul summit can succeed “if it follows up on discussions about cooperating on common points,” based on agreements reached during the third round of multifaceted talks in Geneva.
