Why John Kerry would not visit Israel?

In the first round of travels by John Kerry to 9 countries, Palestinian Occupied Territories has no place, a thing that has incited a host of criticism against Kerry.
What really account for Kerry’s avoiding travelling to Occupied Territories? Kerry’s first round of travels as the US Secretary of State to 9 countries including Italy, France, Germany, and Britain in Europe, and Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar in Asia, started February 19th.

International analysts have focused on John Kerry’s first round of travels based on two points:

1. The weight and importance given to Western Asia and Arab countries in John Kerry’s view;

2. Kerry’s not placing Occupied Territories as place to travel and visit Zionist regime officials.

Without any doubt, Kerry’s lending importance to Western Asia and Arab countries is affected by Islamic Awakening, Syrian crisis, and the US concerns over its dwindling prestige and hegemony in the region, which necessitates a logical and wiser diplomacy by the US in recognizing Islamic Awakening; but, not visiting Occupied Territories gains importance in terms of special relations between the US and Israel , since long ago, the US policy has been remaining loyal to Zionist regime, and Kerry, has gone contrary to the White House official line.

Some points can be given as John Kerry’s not visiting Occupied Territories.

1. Analysts give Obama’s planned visit to Occupied Territories as the reason for Kerry’s abandoning the Israel visit, as Victoria Noland, US Secretary of State Spokeswoman stated that Kerry would accompany Obama in his visit to Israel in March 20th.

2. Netanyahu has not yet formed the cabinet after winning the elections. This can be a reason for Kerry’s avoiding a visit. Wilson Center says that a visit by John Kerry to Israel when there is no cabinet there would not so wise. A coalition is possible (shown to be ineffective), and discussions for forming a coalition government may take time. Kerry has no Israeli counterpart, and it is unknown that who would host Kerry as his counterpart, and in best circumstance, Kerry’s visit would disconcert the officials (while they are focused on internal affairs, and not diplomacy) and perceived as interference.

3. John Kerry’s lending weight and priority to Western Asia and addressing Syrian crisis, and Islamic Awakening rather weighting Palestinian issue can be cited as a reason for no visit to Israel.

4. The lack of agreement between the US and Israel on international issues such as Western Asia, and Israel’s probable strike against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

It is likely that, among the reasons above, first and second reason may account for Kerry’s not visiting Israel, but the main reason may be cited as Netanyahu’s improper conduct in his previous term as prime minister.

The irresponsible conduct of Israeli officials in one hand, and Zionist lobbies inside the US on the other hand, before and after Obama won the presidency, have virtually posed challenges to the US foreign policy in Western Asia, and this, with the Islamic Awakening, and the fall of US-backed regimes in the region, has acted as a catalyst, both before and after the popular Arab movements in the region, which has been moving in the path to deterioration of US policies in the region, posing great problems for the US along with Iraq and Afghanistan invasions.

But this decision by Kerry has been interpreted as ‘squandering opportunity’ and ‘political losses for John Kerry by the analysts. They would say that John Kerry has lost a good chance to restore the US and Israel relations. Acting such, John Kerry has gone contrary to his boss’s policies in the region, and US should know well that without any strong relations with Israel, it would not solve Middle East and Palestinian issues. Currently, the Zionist regime is bringing nothing to the US, other than political costs and ruin to US politics, and with Hosni Mubarak now fallen in Egypt, Israel has been the real problem for Obama. Time will show that in his visit to Occupied Territories, how Obama would explain Israel’s costly policies for Netanyahu.
