Canada backs deadly Zionist attack on Gaza

Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper has voiced the support of his government for the Israeli regime in its military aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip.

During a news conference in Quebec City on Friday, Harper said his country recognizes and supports Israel’s right to “defend” itself.

Israeli airstrikes and shelling on the Gaza Strip, which started on November 14, have left at least 112 Palestinians dead and over 900 others injured. Some of the injured are in critical condition.

The Israeli military said on Monday that it had conducted more than 1,350 aerial and sea attacks against the Gaza Strip since the beginning of its aggression on the coastal enclave.

Harper made no mention of the Gazans’ right to protect themselves against the deadly Israeli airstrikes.

On Thursday, Canadian activists protested outside the Israeli consulate in Toronto, where they chanted, “Stop the killing in Palestine.”

On Friday, People in Canada also marched outside the consulate general of Israel in Montreal to protest at the attacks taking place against the Gaza Strip.

Reports also say that several other protests were held in the Canadian cities of Calgary, Halifax, Nanaimo, Ottawa, Regina, St Catherines and Edmonton.

The latest Israeli attacks against Gaza come while Israel keeps its crippling blockade on the Palestinian enclave. The blockade has been in place since 2007.
