Iran Seeks to Forge New Chapter in Relations with Lebanon, Says FM Araghchi

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed Iran's aspiration to usher in a new chapter in the historically rooted relations with Lebanon, which are built on respect and shared interests, following discussions with Lebanese officials in Beirut.

In a message shared on his official account on the social media platform X, Araqchi expressed his pleasure at returning to scenic Beirut. During discussions with high-ranking officials including the President, Speaker of Parliament, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister, Araqchi reaffirmed his unwavering support for Lebanon’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and reconstruction efforts, especially in light of the ongoing Israeli occupation.

He highlighted, “Our aim and aspiration is to initiate a new chapter in our centuries-old relationship, grounded in mutual respect and shared interests.”

During a meeting in Beirut on Tuesday, Iran’s foreign minister expressed Tehran’s willingness to assist Lebanon with its reconstruction efforts.

Araghchi and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun engaged in discussions concerning the bilateral relations between their respective countries, as well as the latest developments on both regional and international fronts.

Iran has expressed its willingness to strengthen relations with Lebanon across various sectors, emphasizing mutual respect and shared interests, as stated by Araghchi.

Iranian companies have expressed their readiness to support the Lebanese government in its reconstruction initiatives, displaying a willingness to assist in rebuilding efforts.

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s commitment to upholding Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, advocating for dialogue among the country’s diverse ethnic and political factions. The aim, he emphasized, is to achieve national consensus and address the nation’s challenges.

Aoun emphasized his administration’s commitment to fostering diplomatic relations with all nations.

Lebanon has expressed its willingness to expand amicable relations with Iran across various sectors.
