Iran Sends Humanitarian, Medical Aids to Yemen

Iran sent a cargo plane carrying humanitarian aid, including medical equipment, to Yemen on Sunday.
The cargo plane of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) that left Tehran for Sanaa Sunday morning is the first Iranian plane to land in Yemen after several years.

“The IRCS has dispatched aid packages, including tents, blankets, and medical products weighing 14 tons to Yemen,” Shahabeddin Mohammadi Araqi, IRCS deputy managing director for international and humanitarian affairs, announced on Thursday.

Mohammadi Araqi noted that the IRCS is ready to dispatch a second shipment if the Yemeni government asks for more aid.

Yemen has been suffering some political unrests since a popular uprising that erupted in 2011 ended the autocracy of President Ali Abdullah Saleh a year later.
