NHS demonstrators to rally outside Conservative party conference venue

Britain’s trade unions’ umbrella group is calling for a major health zombies’ demonstration outside the Conservative Party Conference venue next month as a public warning against the coalition government’s health policies.

The Trades Union Congress said the rally will be held to raise alarm over the Tory-led government’s policies that are “destroying our NHS”.

Campaigners say the government is gradually replacing the National Health Service with a privatized look-alike that is a commercial wreckage of the original “free for all at the point of need” health service.

The warning comes as official figures showed on Friday that the number of patients on a waiting list for treatment at NHS hospitals has hit a five-year high at 2.9 million.

The figure shows a 300,000 hike since January this year, as free health care faces deteriorating hospital bed crisis.

The TUC-organized national demonstration will be held on September 29 in a bid to “get the attention of [Prime Minister] David Cameron’s Conservative Party.

The group said they want to surround the conference venue to symbolically “quarantine” the political conference.

The demonstrators will also be dressed so that they look like “walking wounded in hospital gowns and wrapped in bandages or as health worker zombies”.
