
Qantar was killed during the Israeli airstrike which targeted his home in the city of Jaramana located 10 kilometers from the Syrian capital in Damascus’ countryside early on Sunday.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaber Ansari deplored the crime, and extended his condolences on Qantar’s martyrdom to the Lebanese nation and government as well as the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance groups and the martyr’s family members and comrades.
Warning that such measures by the Zionist regime which have turned into a stable and constant procedure is the most dangerous form of state-sponsored terrorism, he asked the international organizations and world governments to condemn such terrorist and aggressive acts and not to allow the global will to fight against terrorism be weakened by the Zionist regime’s terrorist measures.
Qantar was released from an Israeli prison during a prisoner swap between Hezbollah and Israel in 2008 after serving 29 years in detention.
The airstrike also left ten Syrian nationals dead and a number of other civilians injured.
