In a Nowruz address, President Pezeshkian commits to implementing economic reforms

Iran's President, Masoud Pezeshkian, has committed to addressing the nation's inflation crisis, emphasizing that his administration's foremost priorities for the new Iranian year include enhancing livelihood, housing, health, and education.

On Thursday, as the celebration of Nowruz commenced, he addressed the nation in a televised speech. This occurred merely hours following the first observance of Laylat al-Qadr, also known as the Night of Power or the Night of Destiny.

Laylat al-Qadr, known as the “Night of Power,” marks the occasion when the divine revelation of the Holy Quran was bestowed upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

President Pezeshkian remarked that Nowruz and Laylat al-Qadr both symbolize the same underlying principle, marking a call for a transformative shift in destiny.

The Iranian president underscored the necessity for reforms to address “all imbalances,” highlighting the importance of involving experts, specialists, academics, elites, economists, as well as cultural and media figures. He stressed that achieving these changes would require the active participation of all citizens.

He conveyed optimism that the Iranian citizens and government leaders have the potential to forge a promising future by harnessing their internal resources.

“We are the architects of a promising future and a respected nation for ourselves and our children. It is through our collective national unity and integrity that we can forge a unique and formidable force, resilient enough to endure the most challenging trials and adept at navigating through turbulent times.”

He asserted that increased economic engagement from both individuals and the private sector significantly enhances production and employment opportunities, ultimately contributing to an uplift in the standard of living for the populace.

The president reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making every effort to eliminate “ugliness and injustices” in Iran. He emphasized the importance of achieving these goals through “solidarity and unity,” relying on the “will and resolve” of the Iranian populace.

President Pezeshkian, in his concluding remarks, expressed hope for a prosperous year ahead, coinciding with the celebrations of Nowruz and Laylat al-Qadr. He emphasized the commencement of a new chapter in Iran’s history, highlighting the nation’s pride and the shared national aspirations of all Iranians.
