MP: Obama’s Support for Zionists Signifies US Unchanged Policy on Middle-East

A senior Iranian legislator condemned US President Barack Obama’s newly issued declaration of support for the Zionist regime of Israel and its aggression on Gaza, and said the move shows that the US has not changed its unfair policy towards the Middle-East region.

Member of the Iranian Parliament’s Presiding Board Javad Jahangirzadeh pointed to Barack Obama’s declaration of support for the Zionist regime immediately after his reelection and following the attack on Gaza, he said, “Obama’s declaration shows US policies have not changed in the Middle-East region.”

Assaults on Gaza started on Wednesday when the Israeli military launched a series of new air and sea attacks against the Palestinians in the coastal territory.

Over 41 people have been killed and more than 350 others injured in the new wave of Israeli attacks.

At least eight Palestinian children have been killed and over 60 injured in Israeli airstrikes since Wednesday, according to the UN.

An 11-month-old boy and a pregnant woman are among the dead.

The UN special body for the protection of children has called for an immediate end to the bloodshed. “I call on all parties to immediately stop the violence and to fully respect their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect girls and boys from the fighting,” said the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Ms Leila Zerrougui.

On Friday, hundred of thousands of Iranians all across the country staged demonstrations to protest at Israel’s attacks on the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Protesters unanimously condemned Zionists’ crimes in the besieged enclave.

The people carrying placards chanted ‘Down with the US’ and ‘Down with the Israel’ and other anti-Zionist slogans.
