‘Iran supports Lebanon against Israel’

A senior Iranian lawmaker has expressed the support of the Islamic Republic for Lebanon’s popular resistance against Zionist Israeli occupation and aggression.

First Vice Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Mohammad Reza Bahonar heading an Iranian parliamentary delegation made the remarks during a meeting with Hezbollah’s Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut on Thursday.

He also stressed the importance of cooperation between Iran and Lebanon in all fields.

The Iranian delegation and Nasrallah discussed “the latest political developments in Lebanon, the region, and the scope of expected cooperation between Lebanon and Iran,” a Hezbollah statement said.

Nasrallah thanked Iran for “what it has offered to Lebanon and the Palestinian cause since the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran,” according to the statement.

The Iranian delegation praised the Lebanese resistance’s achievements, especially during the 33-day Israeli war against Lebanon in 2006.

Earlier on Thursday, the delegation toured parts of southern Lebanon.
