Sayyed Hakim calls for establishment of humanitarian force

Speaking in his sermon after Eid al-Fitr prayers in Baghdad on Monday morning, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, the chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, congratulated the Popular Mobilization Forces on the success of their operation to liberate western Mosul and said, “We are thankful for God’s blessings of victory over the enemies. The Popular Mobilization Forces have proven themselves with their courage and devotion and the world that they can respond to every external threat and transform defeat into victory and dignity.”

According to Rasa, the renowned Iraqi scholar described the victories of the Popular Mobilization Forces as “historical” and said, “By joining various battalions of the security forces and Popular Mobilization Forces and achieving valuable victories against terrorism, the Iraqi warriors have made the hearts of the Iraqi people happy.”

He said, “The Iraqi people are in a situation where they must respect each other, respect each others’ rights and accept each other without hatred and negative attitudes.”

Hujjat al-Islam al-Hakim explained that the unity of Iraq is as valuable to us as our eyes and as we understand the goals and ends, we believe in a unified and homogeneous homeland. “This separation will lead to the formation of unstable regimes in a world that is now full of tension and anxiety,” he noted.

His Eminence emphasized the necessity of maintaining national unity, adding, “Iraq is composed of ethnic groups and tribes such as Kurds, Arabs, [Sunni and Shi’ah] Muslims, Turkmen and [Chaldean and Assyrian] Christians, and if we want to divide this country, its power will be weakened in the world and who will be able to guarantee the rights of people?”

The chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq called for a fight against corruption, the implementation of reforms and the spread of democracy, and added, “The Kurdistan region is part of the soul and life of Iraq and the country will remain with all of its ethnic groups and tribes.”

Hujjat al-Islam al-Hakim described the Takfiri terrorists as devilish people and stated, “The fight of the Popular Mobilization Forces against terrorism is the struggle between faith, the noble Muhammadan thought, love for oneself and his homeland and evil and deviated beliefs, ignorant thought and malevolence.”

He said the fight against the Daesh Takfiri terrorist movement has not ended but rather priorities have changed and added, “Security forces and military officials should pay close attention to intelligence issues and severely reduce the gaps in this area, especially at checkpoints.”

The renowned cleric emphasized the necessity of establishing a medical and humanitarian force and continued, “In the military sector, the Popular Mobilization Forces have made positive gains and have been able to provide a good record.”

Hujjat al-Islam al-Hakim added, “Therefore, the Popular Mobilization Forces must be active in various ways such as supporting the families of martyrs, the wounded and the needy. Each of the doctors can dedicate a part of their time throughout the week to providing free treatment to patients through membership in the medical and humanitarian forces.”
