Iran to launch int’l Spanish TV channel

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) will officially launch the Hispan TV Spanish-language channel with various types of programs.

Hispan TV will go on air on December 21, 2011, covering a wide range of news, educational and scientific programs.

Interviews with prominent social figures, critical analysis of Europe’s current issues and Spanish documentaries will be part of the programs of the new channel.

Hispan TV will seek to strengthen cultural bonds and proximity with Spanish-speaking nations and introduce Iranian traditions and customs by broadcasting various programs round the clock.

As a large part of the world’s population speaks Spanish, we will start a network (in Spanish) within the next few months, IRIB chief, Ezzatollah Zarghami announced.

“This new Spanish network will have a major role in reflecting the ideological legitimacy of our system to the world,” he noted.

The channel will be broadcast from the IRIB studios in Tehran.

Hispan TV is the third specialized channel broadcasting by IRIB after the Arabic language Al-Alam television network and the round-the-clock Press TV English television news network.

The channel will broadcast on Hispasat 1C, frequency: 12092 MHz, vertical polarization, symbol rate: 27500, FEC ¾; and Hispasat 1C, frequency: 12172 MHz, horizontal position, symbol rate: 27500, FEC ¾.

It can also be received on NSS 806, frequency: 3803 MHz, horizontal position, symbol rate: 27500, FEC 3/4; and Intelsat 9, frequency: 3840 MHz, vertical position, symbol rate: 27690, FEC 3/4.

A full HD receiver is needed to receive Hispan TV on the stated satellites.
