Airbase hosting US troops in Iraq targeted with drones

Resistance forces have targeted an airbase hosting US troops in Iraq, according to media reports.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq said it targeted al-Harir airbase in northern Iraq with two drones on Wednesday.

The group said the move was a response to US backing for Israel during the onslaught against the people of Gaza.

On Wednesday evening, the sirens sounded at the US embassy, according to several people in Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone that houses the embassy.

But there were no reports of casualties.

Meanwhile, Yemeni armed forces said they have shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone with a surface-to-air missile over the country’s territorial waters.

They said that the drone was conducting hostile activities in Yemen’s airspace within the framework of US military support for Israel.

Anti-Israel and anti-US sentiments are running high across the region over Washington’s firm support for the Israeli onslaught against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, which has killed at least 10,569 people, including 4,324 children.

Another 26,475 people have been wounded as well. At least 2,550 individuals are reported missing, including at least 2,550 children, who may have died or been trapped under the rubble waiting to be rescued.

As a result, resistance movements across the region have recently targeted Israeli and US positions with drones and missiles.
