Iran to unveil Fateh missiles

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says the Islamic Republic will soon unveil the third generation of its Fateh missiles.

“According to the promise we made earlier, this missile will be officially unveiled in the Sacred Defense Week,” Vahidi said on the sidelines of Cabinet members meeting on Sunday.

Vahidi added that several military projects would be inaugurated during the Defense Week, IRNA reported.

As part of the Islamic Republic’s general plan to bolster its military might, Iran has unveiled a series of domestically-produced weaponry over the past months.

The new projects include the short range missile Qiam and Iran’s first Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Karrar.

Iran also officially inaugurated the production line of two domestically-built high-speed vessels, Seraj and Zolfaqar in August.

The new generation of the Zolfaqar vessel has been designed to conduct immediate strikes on enemy ships.

Tehran says the weapons are part of its doctrine of defense and are aimed at strengthening security in the region.
