Iran: UN must take prompt action to address ‘israel’s’ hostilities towards Syria
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has condemned recent assaults by Israel, which have hit several sites in the Syrian capital, Damascus, as well as areas in the southern region of the country.

In a statement released on Thursday, Baghaei called for the international community and Muslim nations to adopt a “decisive” position against Israel’s acts of aggression and to work towards halting the regime’s illicit activities.
He issued a warning concerning the ongoing expansionist and aggressive actions by Israel.
These remarks follow a recent operation by Israeli warplanes, which executed a series of airstrikes targeting military installations in southern Syria. The strikes notably included areas in proximity to Damascus and the Dera’a province on Tuesday.
An Iranian spokesperson has asserted that the Tel Aviv administration has consistently breached the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Israel and Syria, characterizing these actions as a “clear violation” of the United Nations Charter and international legal standards.
Baghaei stated that Israel’s ongoing occupation of Syrian lands and consistent breaches of the Arab nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity constitute acts of aggression.
He called upon the United Nations Security Council to take swift action to halt the Israeli regime’s acts of aggression and its breaches of international peace and security.
Hostilities ensued after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu advocated for the “demilitarization” of the area. Israel’s Minister of Military Affairs, Israel Katz, verified that the strikes were conducted, focusing on facilities in Kiswah, located south of Damascus, as well as additional targets in Dera’a.
The regime’s strikes are part of a broader strategy aimed at achieving the “complete demilitarization” of southern Syrian provinces, specifically targeting Quneitra, Dera’a, and Sweida.
In the wake of the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime last December, orchestrated by military groups spearheaded by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, the Israeli Defense Forces have initiated a series of airstrikes targeting military installations, facilities, and arsenals formerly controlled by Syria’s disbanded army.
Recent airstrikes have drawn sharp condemnation from Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), who have called for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops. The group has also warned of potential repercussions if military aggression continues.
