Iran Unveils Fattah Missile, Signaling Defiance to Israel’s Ally: IRGC

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has confirmed the deployment of the advanced "Fattah" hypersonic missiles during the eleventh phase of Operation True Promise III, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has characterized the recent phase of their operation as a decisive “turning point.” They announced that the deployment of first-generation Fattah missiles signals “the beginning of the end” for what they referred to as Israel’s “mythical” missile defense systems.

The commendations were extended to the commanders and fighters of the IRGC aerospace force for the triumphant and commendable success of a mission described as “glorious and pride-inducing.”

Iran has claimed that its advanced and agile Fattah missiles targeted the positions held by the Zionists, delivering a stark warning of Tehran’s military prowess to Tel Aviv and its ally, which Iran describes as being entrenched in misconceptions and unfounded beliefs.

The statement highlighted that the missile attack demonstrated Iran’s complete aerial dominance over the occupied territories, suggesting that Israeli settlers are entirely vulnerable to the Islamic Republic’s precision strikes.

Fattah, translating to “the opener,” is a precision-guided, two-stage solid-fueled missile that boasts a striking range of 1,400 kilometers. Unveiled in June 2023, it achieves a terminal velocity between Mach 13 and 15.

Military experts have indicated that the missile’s advanced speed and the incorporation of movable nozzles enable it to maneuver in all directions, both within and outside the Earth’s atmosphere. This technological advancement renders the missile impervious to interception by any current anti-missile defense systems.

At the unveiling ceremony in 2023, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the former aerospace commander of the IRGC, characterized the missile as a “significant advancement.”

Prior to Iran’s achievement in mastering hypersonic missile technology, only three nations—Russia, China, and India—had successfully developed operational missiles of this kind. The models utilized by these countries vary significantly in terms of launch platforms, range, payload capacities, and the specific hypersonic technologies implemented.

The eleventh phase of the operation marked a heightened level of intensity, as Iranian missiles successfully penetrated various layers of Israeli air defense systems.

In the face of stringent media censorship reportedly enforced by the Israeli authorities, videos have emerged on social media depicting the skies over Tel Aviv and Haifa illuminated by a series of sophisticated Iranian missiles penetrating Israel’s multi-tiered missile defense system.
