Iran urges security ties with UAE

Iran Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar has stressed the importance of strengthening all-out cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, particularly in security fields.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, Mohammad-Najjar said Iran and the UAE enjoy cordial relations, expressing hope that his visit would result in the further expansion of bilateral cooperation.
He added that his visit is taking place at the invitation of the UAE Interior Minister Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Iranian minister said during talks with senior UAE officials, the two sides will discuss the expansion of security cooperation, the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime, and increasing border exchanges.
The Emirati minister, for his part, said his country attaches great significance to bolstering ties with Iran and called on the two countries to promote bilateral economic cooperation and remove obstacles in the way of enhanced relations.
He added that Iran and the UAE should have the highest level of mutual relations and expressed hope that negotiations between the two countries’ officials would yield positive results.
