Iranian billionaire Zanjani arrested : Judiciary

According to IRIB World Service quoting the spokesman for Iran’s judiciary, who is also the prosecutor general of Iran, Hojjat-ol-Islam Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejeie, famous billionaire businessman, Babak Zanjani, has been arrested in connection with an on-going financial corruption court case.
On Sunday, Tehran’s prosecutor general, Abbas Ja’fari Dowlatabadi, confirmed that tycoon and businessman, Babak Zanjani is wanted in connection with a case which is currently before a court of law in Tehran.
Zanjani has been accused of extensive financial corruption and bribery in recent months. His shady business dealings have been under the spotlight, with a number of MPs in the Iranian parliament , the Majlis, openly calling for his arrest because of financial corruption and theft.
According to Zanjani himself, he owns more than 70 companies, including the Qeshm Holding and Development Co, The First Islamic Investment Bank in Malaysia, a savings and credit institution in the UAE, and the “Arzesh” Bank in Tajikistan. He is also a major shareholder in a Turkish Airline — Onour Airways. He also owns numerous other companies in Dubai, Turkey and Tajikistan.
