A senior Iranian military commander lashed out at the US and Israel for promoting state-sponsored terrorism in the world.
“The big world capitalist states (the US and Zionists) embark on terrorist moves in various arenas for their survival,” Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri said Monday.
The general further explained that such areas of terrorism include, “terror of thoughts and thinking, assassination of scientists, conventional assassination attempts, cyber terror, cutting city and transportation roads, and support for cultural discord”.
He called on those regional nations which have experienced popular uprisings to stand against such plots which he described as a “heavy typhoon” and find a remedy for them.
Iran has long been a victim of the US and Israeli terrorism, specially state-sponsored nuclear terrorism. The US and Israeli spy agencies have admitted that they have assassinated Iran’s nuclear scientists and tried to infiltrate virus and other types of malware into Iran’s cyber network to hinder the country’s progress in the field of civilian nuclear technology.
A new book by US-Israeli journalists admitted that Mossad agents carried out assassination of Iranian scientists, saying that the killings were too sensitive for Mossad to share with foreign freelancers.
In “Spies Against Armageddon: Inside Israel’s Secret Wars,” (Levant Books), CBS News national correspondent Dan Raviv and former intelligence correspondent Yossi Melman wrote that the Mossad operates a special secret unit in called Kidon, Hebrew for bayonet.
The book further reveals that Mossad has close cooperation with Iranian dissident groups, stating that the Mossad believes that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
The authors further wrote of the close relationship between the Mossad and the CIA when explaining the efforts to stop Iran’s nuclear progress.
In the fifth attack of its kind in two years, terrorists killed a 32-year-old Iranian scientist, Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, and his driver on January 11.
The blast took place on the second anniversary of the martyrdom of Iranian university professor and nuclear scientist, Massoud Ali Mohammadi, who was also assassinated in a terrorist bomb attack in Tehran in January 2010.
The assassination method used in the bombing was similar to the 2010 terrorist bomb attacks against the then university professor, Fereidoun Abbassi Davani – who is now the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization – and his colleague Majid Shahriari. While Abbasi Davani survived the attack, Shahriari was martyred.
Another Iranian scientist, Dariush Rezaeinejad, was also assassinated through the same method on 23 July 2011.
Iran’s intelligence chief announced on Sunday that his forces have thwarted a string of assassination plots for killing a large number of Iranian scientists.
“One of the measures that the recently apprehended groups were supposed to carry out was assassination of certain individuals on the basis of precise and detailed plans,” Iranian Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi said, and explained that “those individuals who have made achievements in different areas of science were to be picked up as the target of these plans.”
He further stated that the swift and smart measures taken by his forces could foil the enemy’s wide-scale assassination plot.
The minister said Iranian scientists have made great success in various areas of science and technology, but the country cannot introduce all these outstanding figures because it does not want the country’s scientists to come to the center of attention in such enemy plots.
Late in June, Iran announced that its intelligence forces had identified and arrested all terrorist elements behind the assassination of the country’s nuclear scientists.
“All the elements involved in the assassinations of the country’s nuclear scientists have been identified and arrested,” Iran’s Intelligence Ministry announced in a statement late last month.
A number of countries, whose territories and facilities had been misused by the Mossad-backed terrorist teams, have provided the Iranian officials with relevant information, the statement added.
Over the course of the investigations, all other elements behind the assassinations of the Iranian scientists Massoud Ali-Mohammadi, Majid Shahriari and Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan as well as Reza Qashqaei (Roshan’s driver) have been apprehended, the statement read.
Some of the perpetrators of the assassination of Dr. Fereidoun Abbasi, the current head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, are among those arrested, the ministry added.
According to the statement, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry has detected some of Mossad’s bases within the territories of one of Iran’s Western neighbors, which provided training and logistic support to the terrorist networks.
Earlier last month, Iranian Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi had announced that the country’s security forces had arrested at least 20 terrorists behind the assassination of Iran’s nuclear scientists.
Moslehi stated that the arrests were made following the identification of two terrorist groups and through multiple sting operations across the country.
Western spy agencies, collaborated by the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), have assassinated several Iranian scientists in the last three years.
