The Al-Nusra Front terrorist group started withdrawing from the Palestinian Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus on Wednesday.

The retreat of the Al-Nusra Front terrorists from Yarmouk takes place within an agreement reached with the Syrian government earlier this year.

The Al-Nusra Front terrorists will leave Yarmouk for Idlib through a safe passage provided by the government.

In early May, the ISIL terrorists stormed the strongholds of their rival group of al-Nusra Front in Yarmouk refugee camp and drove them back from a main street of the camp.

The ISIL targeted the al-Nusra Front’s strongholds around Ja’ouneh Street, Haifa Street and the Palestine Roundabout and killed or injured several al-Nusra militants.

The ISIL reportedly seized part of Haifa Street from al-Nusra after hours of fierce clashes.

Clashes are still ongoing between the two terrorist groups, with the ISIL on the move along Ja’ouneh Street.

The Yarmouk crisis started in 2012 when the terrorist groups took control of the Palestinian refugee camp and displaced over one million Palestinians. The terrorist groups have been trying to make the Yarmouk camp and its surrounding areas the main center of their operations.

The ISIL had sieged Yarmouk refugee camp for several months when it was in al-Nusra Front’s control.

In a relevant development on Sunday, provincial officials disclosed that the Al-Nusra Front and ISIL terrorists had engaged in fresh clashes in the Southern countryside of the Syrian capital, inflicting heavy fatalities on both sides.

“The ISIL and its rival terrorist group of al-Nusra Front opened heavy fire at each others’ strongholds in several axis of al-Yarmouk refugee camp in the Southern countryside of Damascus, which ended in the killing or wounding  of tens of terrorists,” the sources said.
