Iranian copper output amounted to 235,000 tons last year

Iran produced 235,000 tons of copper over the past Iranian year, it was announced on Saturday.

Managing Director of National Iranian Copper Industries Company Ardeshir Saad Mohammadi said that NICICo has planned to produce 700,000 tons of copper.

‘In order to achieve the target, NICICo plans to set up two plants for producing copper concentrate by the end of the new Iranian year,’ Saad Mohammadi said.

He said that the implementation of the plan to establish two plants began last year and they will come on stream by the end of the current Iranian year.

Saad Mohammadi said that NICICo is seriously updating the technology used from the stage of exploration of copper mines and producing copper.

He said that the total amount of copper ore processing from mines amounted to 124 million tons last year. It will rise to 200 million tons this year, the Year for National Products.

In reference to high quality of Iranian copper, he said that Iranian copper is sold at the international markets at a price higher than the average due to high quality.

Saad Mohammadi said that NICICo seeks to reach higher level in terms of revenues from national industries and reach the fifth rank in the Middle East copper industries in the next four years.
