A senior Iranian diplomat has met with the head of Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah in Beirut.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian called on Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah to discuss the latest developments in the region.

Amir-Abdollahian, who is on a regional tour, arrived in Beirut on Wednesday morning and held talks with a number of Lebanese officials, including Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

The Iranian diplomat has now flown to the Omani capital of Muscat on the next leg of his tour.

On Tuesday, Amir-Abdollahian held talks with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov in Moscow, the Iranian official’s first destination in the tour. The two sides discussed international plans for a new round of talks on Syria and underlined bilateral cooperation on the issue.

The talks, scheduled for Saturday in Vienna, will bring together some 20 countries and international bodies to try to hammer out a roadmap for peace in Syria.

Speaking to IRNA, Amir-Abdollahian said the regional tour is mainly aimed at consultations in a bid to find a solution to the crises in the Palestinian territories, Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
