Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan says the Islamic Republic needs no permission to boost its defense might.

“We are always ready to defend the country’s territorial integrity and political establishment,” Dehqan said on Thursday.

He added that Iran’s Armed Forces and intelligence bodies fully monitor the enemies’ moves.

Regarding our capacities, we are capable of designing, manufacturing and using all our defense equipment based on our requirements in countering possible threats, the Iranian defense minister pointed out.

Dehqan further pointed to the recent test-firing of a new long-range ballistic missile, dubbed Emad, and said Iran relies on its own capabilities to strengthen its defense power.

Iran on October 11 successfully test-fired the surface-to-surface missile which has been completely designed and manufactured by experts from Iran’s Aerospace Industries Organization which is affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Defense.

Emad is Iran’s first long-range missile with guidance and control systems which can hit targets and completely destroy them with high precision.

In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in the production of important military equipment and systems.

The Islamic Republic maintains that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
