Iranian Foreign Minister Urges Unified Muslim Response to Halt Alleged Zionist Actions in Gaza

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has urged Muslim nations to implement "collective and effective" actions to halt what he described as Israel’s transgressions in Gaza, and to address the regime's territorial expansion and occupation in Lebanon and Syria.

In the initial stage of a diplomatic tour encompassing two nations, Araghchi, currently in Cairo, held discussions with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Monday and conveyed his remarks during the meeting.

He stated that the people of Palestine in Gaza are enduring a “painful” situation as Israel persists in what has been described as a genocidal conflict in the blockaded region.

Since October 7, 2023, when hostilities commenced between Israel and Gaza, over 54,400 Palestinians have reportedly lost their lives, with more than 124,100 others injured, the majority being women and children.

Araghchi praised the “useful and constructive” consultations and cooperation between the two “important” nations of Iran and Egypt regarding the current sensitive developments in the region, emphasizing the importance of continued interaction between both parties.

The Egyptian leader stated that his nation has undertaken initiatives to halt what he described as Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Sisi stated that Egypt’s position emphasizes managing and preventing the escalation of tensions, striving for peace in the region, and protecting the interests of Muslim nations.

He urged the sustained close consultation between the two nations and the advancement of bilateral relations grounded in mutual interests and respect.

Iran’s Foreign Minister engaged in discussions with the President of Egypt regarding ongoing indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, with mediation efforts being facilitated by Oman.

Araghchi, leading a high-level delegation, arrived in Cairo on Sunday night and is scheduled to visit Lebanon on Tuesday.

Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Foreign Minister engaged in discussions with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, focusing on bilateral relations and recent regional developments.

Mohammad Hossein Soltani-Fard, who leads Iran’s Interests Section in Cairo, announced on Sunday that the trip of Iran’s top diplomat aims to address ongoing regional crises. These include the conflict in Gaza, Israeli military actions, and the situations in Sudan and Libya. He emphasized that fostering dialogue and negotiations among “influential and impactful” nations are key objectives of this diplomatic mission.

Progress in Tehran-Cairo relations has been described as steady, characterized by ongoing consultations and intensive discussions between the foreign ministers of both nations.
