Iranian Nationals Freed by Saudi Arabia Make Their Return Home

Two Iranian nationals have been released by Saudi Arabia and have safely returned to Iran, according to a statement from an official at the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

Mojtaba Shasti Karimi, the Director General of Consular Affairs at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, announced on Thursday that Gholamreza Qassemian and Nadimi, who had been held in the sacred Saudi city of Medina, have been released, as reported by the Tasnim news agency.

Shasti Karimi announced that two nationals were released on Thursday morning after extensive negotiations conducted by Iran’s Foreign Ministry in conjunction with the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.

In accordance with its core responsibilities, Iran’s foreign policy machinery is committed to relentless efforts in supporting Iranian citizens globally, he emphasized.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has placed significant emphasis on addressing the issue, focusing on both the support of citizens and the protection of mutual relations with Saudi Arabia, according to Shasti Karimi.

The release of the two Iranian nationals was significantly aided by the concerted efforts of Iran’s embassy and consulate general in Riyadh and Jeddah, along with the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.

The Iranian diplomat expressed gratitude for the cooperation extended by relevant Saudi officials on the matter.

Earlier on Thursday, Araghchi emphasized Iran’s commitment to preserving “brotherly” relations with Saudi Arabia, vowing not to let any external forces undermine the bilateral ties.

The minister underscored the seriousness with which they regard their relations with Saudi Arabia, highlighting the enduring importance of their ties and regional policy. Saudi Arabia occupies a pivotal role in this framework, and the commitment to maintain amicable relations without any disruptions was reaffirmed.
