Iranian Official Araghchi Asserts Uranium Enrichment Science Impervious to Bombing
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has emphasized that Iran's expertise in nuclear energy and its determination to progress in the peaceful nuclear sector cannot be easily undermined by military actions.

In an interview broadcast by CBS News on Tuesday, the senior diplomat emphasized that technology and science, particularly for peaceful uranium enrichment, cannot be eradicated through bombings.
In an unanticipated escalation on June 13, Israel initiated hostilities against the Islamic Republic, targeting nuclear facilities along with various other sites.
The United States, already playing a significant role in the aggression with considerable military and intelligence backing, intervened towards the conclusion of the 12-day period, targeting multiple nuclear facilities in Iran’s central and north-central regions.
Remarks by Iranian diplomat Araghchi followed assertions from Trump, who claimed that the American attacks had “obliterated” the targeted sites. This assertion was subsequently refuted by evaluations from the Pentagon.
The foreign minister emphasized that the Islamic Republic is fully prepared and equipped to recover its losses, projecting an optimistic outlook on the country’s ability to do so swiftly.
He expressed confidence that with the determination on their part, and the intent to advance in the industry, they can swiftly rectify the damages and recuperate the lost time.
An official attributed the country’s commitment to advancing its expertise in peaceful nuclear energy to the nuclear industry’s evolution into a symbol of national pride.
Araghchi highlighted the country’s strong pride in its industrial capabilities, emphasizing that this was clearly demonstrated during its effective defense efforts, which included protecting nuclear installations, amidst the conflict imposed by Israel.
He stated, “We have endured 12 days of imposed conflict; therefore, the populace will not readily retreat from enrichment.” He further emphasized, “Throughout the conflict, we showcased and validated our capacity for self-defense.”
The official emphasized that the nation would swiftly engage in self-defense measures if confronted with any resurgence of aggression.
**Negotiations Unlikely to Resume Swiftly**
When questioned about the possibility of renewed discussions with the United States, Araghchi expressed skepticism, stating, “I don’t believe negotiations will recommence that swiftly.”
He stated that before considering reengagement, assurances must first be obtained to ensure that the U.S. will refrain from any military targeting during the diplomatic process.
According to various deliberations, it appears that additional time is required for thorough assessment.
The two parties commenced Omani-mediated negotiations in April, which extended over the course of six rounds.
The negotiations faced significant hurdles as the United States, aligning with Israel’s stance, repeatedly urged Iran to lower its enrichment levels to “zero.” This demand was categorically dismissed by the Islamic Republic.
The recent actions by the United States have raised further questions about its intentions, leading Iranian officials to openly criticize the heavy dependence on diplomatic discussions. They questioned why Washington would resort to military measures against Iran if it was genuinely committed to giving diplomacy an opportunity.
