Iran’s Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Danaeifar says Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad plans to visit Iraq later this month.

Danaeifar said on Saturday that Ahmadinejad will visit Baghdad in order to hold talks with senior Iraqi officials.

The Iranian ambassador added that Ahmadinejad will also meet with members of Iraqi factions and sects, and visit Iraq’s holy shrines where Ahlul Bayt Imams and their descendants have been put to rest.

Danaeifar said Iranian Minister of Energy Majid Namjoo also plans to visit Iraq after Ahmadinejad’s trip to Baghdad.

Ahmadinejad will also leave Tehran for the Turkish city of Konya on Monday to attend a ceremony to commemorate Persian poet mystic Mowlavi.

Director General for International Affairs at Iran’s Presidential Office Mohammad Reza Forqani said the Iranian president would hold talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the ceremony.

Iran has always attached particular significance to enhancing ties with neighboring countries based on mutual respect.
