Iranian students top Silverstone Circuit’s Class 3‎

Iran’s Isfahan University of Technology team has been awarded at the 2009 edition of the Formula Student competition in Silverstone, Britain.

Headed by Mohsen Esfahanian and Ali-Reza Fadaei-Tehrani, the Iranian team received the first award of the Silverstone Circuit’s Class 3.

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Hungary) came second and third in the same class respectively.

According to Fadaei, the Iranian team competed with students from the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Scotland and Poland.

Over 2,000 students from 23 countries participated in the Silverstone Formula Student, known as the biggest and best of its kind in Europe.

Run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and various well-known companies in the industry, the competition challenges university students to design, build, develop, market and compete as a team with a small single-seater racecar.
